Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check the time, domain spelling, and certificate information. Do not bypass the warning by logging into your bank or entering passwords.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Time and domain
Check the exact date, time zone and website address.
Steps to follow
- In Windows, open Time and language > Date and time; Mac – General > Date & Time.
- Check real date, time and zone, use automatic setting with internet.
- Enter the website domain manually and try again. If the warning persists, do not access the sensitive account.
Public Wi-Fi portal
If the problem is on a public network, log out first without entering sensitive data on an untrusted page.
Steps to follow
- Connect to a public Wi-Fi you know by checking the network name with its manager.
- If the system offers "Connect to a network", open that portal and perform its legitimate access verification.
- If the portal is not available, ask your network administrator; Do not enter bank or other sensitive passwords on an obscure page.
- Once done, check the normal HTTPS site. If the certificate error remains, do not bypass it.
Transferring the certificate issue
If the error remains only on the site, notify the owner; Do not bypass the HTTPS warning or install unknown certificates.
Steps to follow
- Write down the exact website address and error text without entering login or payment details.
- Compare with a new browser on another device or network.
- If the error is the same for this site only, please pass the information on to the owner of the site through a contact you know.
- Do not bypass TLS or certificate warning or enable outdated protocols; fixing the server is not setting up the visitor.
If the problem persists
On public Wi-Fi, first open its login portal without sensitive data. If the error remains on only one site, report it to the site owner; do not install unknown root certificates.
