Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Win+R > msinfo32 check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State. Secure Boot requires UEFI support; for normal Windows boot in UEFI mode, the system disk must use a proper GPT boot structure. Save data and BitLocker key before changing CSM or boot mode. Install keys or mode conversion only according to model and Microsoft instruction.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
UEFI and System Status Check
msinfo32 check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State, save the BitLocker key before changing.
Steps to follow
- Windows+R type msinfo32 and Enter.
- Look for "BIOS Mode" and "Safe Boot Status" in System Summary; note if UEFI is displayed and if Secure Boot is enabled.
- If it shows Legacy or Unsupported, don't try to fix it by randomly disabling CSM. First check the official model procedure, copy and BitLocker key.
Activation for the model
If the system uses UEFI correctly, follow the model-specific instructions for enabling Secure Boot.
Steps to follow
- Save your files and BitLocker recovery key before replacing BIOS.
- Find the exact CSM, Secure Boot or PTT/fTPM section you need in the model manual; the option names are not the same on all computers.
- Open BIOS as in the manual, take a picture of the current setting. Change only the option provided in the manual; CSM returns need to know the previous value.
- Use the save command shown by BIOS and test the startup. If the menu doesn't match or you don't know the previous setting, don't guess it; Do not delete TPM and Secure Boot keys.
Boot mode preparation
If you need Legacy/GPT conversion, copy and official procedure first; don't delete keys and partitions as a test.
Steps to follow
- According to your exact computer and GPU model, open the official instructions for UEFI/GOP or disk boot mode.
- Write down the current mode and get a copy of the files and the BitLocker key.
- If a GPU compatibility change or disk conversion is required, pass the models and information to the craftsman; do not follow the instructions for another model.
- Until preparation, use the previous mode that worked if you can safely revert to it. This method does not have a simple one-size-fits-all button for all devices.
If the problem persists
Command msinfo32 check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State. If you need to convert a Legacy drive or install keys, use the manufacturer's and Microsoft's backup procedure; do not rub the keys as a test.
