Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check charging, brightness and external monitor. If there is sound/Caps Lock is working, the problem may be on the video side; model launch tests vary.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Power and brightness
Check for proper charging and screen brightness.
Steps to follow
- Connect the appropriate charger for your model to a working outlet and wait for charging.
- Try the model's screen brightness key or corresponding control if the system is responsive.
- If you hear the system sound or the keys are responsive, but there is no video, compare the external display. If the battery is deformed or the socket is damaged, do not charge.
External display test
If the Mac appears to be working, connect a compatible display and save the files if the image is present.
Steps to follow
- If the case breaks or the hinge is separated, do not move the lid again.
- After powering off, connect a suitable external display to a supported socket.
- Select the correct input on the monitor, turn on the computer and select an external display in its Display settings, if the image is available.
- Make a copy of important files. This is a temporary use to save data, not a cable or hinge repair.
Model startup diagnostics
According to the type of Apple silicon or Intel, try the boot options; do not apply the same recovery combinations to all models.
Steps to follow
- Make a note of the model and determine the Apple silicon or Intel type from the docs if there is no display.
- Open the relevant boot options: Apple silicon while holding power off; Intel according to the model's official Recovery instructions.
- If the image appears, save the data and select only the scheduled scan. If neither the internal nor the correct external display is available, provide the information to the master.
If the problem persists
Try boot options based on Apple silicon or Intel model. If the image is on an external monitor, make a copy and check part of the internal screen; do not apply unknown SMC or NVRAM combinations to all models.
