Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Disconnect unnecessary USB devices, view startup programs and disk health; if Windows is recorded on HDD, it is worth considering SSD.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Disconnecting external devices
If there is still a long wait before the Windows logo, disconnect the unrelated USB devices and compare.
Steps to follow
- Save the documents and shut down the computer normally.
- Disconnect unnecessary USB drives, hubs, docks and other recently connected accessories. Leave the power supply, display and necessary keyboard.
- Turn it on and repeat the action that caused the failure.
- If it works now, turn it off and plug in the accessories one by one and try each one. This will determine which device the problem is returning with.
Minimizing startup programs
If the logo appears quickly but the desktop is slow, check the Windows startup programs.
Steps to follow
- Press Ctrl, Shift and Esc together to open the Task Manager.
- If you only see a short list of apps, click More info if available.
- Select "Launchers"; in older Windows, this might be the Run tab.
- Find only the recognized unnecessary app, tick it and choose "Disable". Do not touch security programs.
- Reload and compare login time or desktop performance. If necessary, turn the recording back on in the same place.
Storage check
If the system is installed on HDD or the disk is unstable, evaluate its condition; make a copy before replacing.
Steps to follow
- If the drive disappears, cracks or files are wrong when copying, don't do a long test - first a copy or a professional recovery evaluation.
- In a stable Windows Start, right-click > Device Manager > Disk Devices, and write down the exact model of the disk.
- On the official website of its manufacturer, find the health viewer for the model and open only information or health status.
- Write down warnings, do not try erasure, firmware or long tests. Even the good condition of the SMART does not rule out all problems; give the result to the master.
If the problem persists
Distinguish between long waits for the Windows logo and slow desktop loading. The first is more related to device detection or BIOS, the second is related to the system and startup programs.
