Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions; disable unnecessary startup entries.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Open at Login list
In Login Items, remove the unnecessary login item.
Steps to follow
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
- Select General.
- Select Login Items & Extensions.
- In the Open at Login list, select the recognized unnecessary program and its uninstall button.
- Do not turn off background security or copy services without understanding.
- After logging out and logging back in, check if the program hasn't started; save your work before logging off.
Program launch option
If it comes back, check the program settings and opening windows from the previous session.
Steps to follow
- Open Settings/Preferences of the app itself.
- Look for "Open at Login", "Launch on startup" or the manufacturer's equivalent and turn it off.
- When logging out, check the option to open previous windows and compare the next login. If the listing is managed by an organization, contact the administrator.
If the problem persists
Check that the application enables startup on login itself and that it has been selected to open windows from the previous session. Background components may remain active even after the Open at Login entry is removed.
