Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Open Applications, move the application to Trash, or use the Uninstaller it provides. Uninstalling system programs is not recommended.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Uninstalling a common application
Move the closed normal application from Applications to Trash, saving its necessary data.
Steps to follow
- Close the program and its documents, save the necessary files.
- Open Applications in the Finder sidebar and search for just that application.
- Move it to Trash if the manufacturer allows such removal. Do not delete system programs or Library contents by hand.
Manufacturer's Removal Tool
For an antivirus or extension-based program, use its Uninstaller to remove active components.
Steps to follow
- Check the official instructions of the program manufacturer for the removal method, especially for an antivirus or system extension.
- Find the Uninstaller it provides or the official removal tool.
- Close the program, save the documents and only follow this wizard. After the required reboot, verify that the entry is removed.
If the problem persists
If an app is running in the background, close it and its supporting apps. Use an official removal tool for an antivirus or program with system extensions to remove active components.
