Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Press Ctrl+Shift+N in File Explorer.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Quick creation of a new folder
After selecting a location in File Explorer, press Ctrl+Shift+N.
Steps to follow
- Windows+E to open File Explorer and select your Documents folder.
- Press Ctrl, Shift and N together.
- Enter the name of the new folder and press Enter; verify that it is created in the desired location.
Menu New
If the combination doesn't work, use New > Folder and check the write permissions.
Steps to follow
- Windows+E to open your Documents or other writable folder.
- Click New > Folder or right-click on an empty space > New > Folder.
- Type a name and press Enter. If the permission is denied, select your folder without changing the permissions of the entire disk.
If the problem persists
Check that you have write permission in the File Explorer window and that the folder location is selected instead of editing the file name. Try the New > Folder menu.
