Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Open This PC or Settings > System > Storage. If space is low, remove unnecessary files, but do not delete unknown system folders.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Viewing disks
Open This PC and compare the free space on each drive.
Steps to follow
- Press Windows and E to open File Explorer.
- Select "This PC" on the left.
- Compare the free space to the total capacity under each drive. Note the C: drive where Windows is normally installed.
Categories of place use
Settings > System > Storage will help you determine what files are taking up space.
Steps to follow
- Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
- Select "System".
- Select "Storage".
- Wait for the categories to be calculated.
- Open the largest category, such as Applications or Temporary Files, and see what's taking up space.
- Choose to delete only what you recognize and have a copy of; do not delete system folders by hand.
If the problem persists
Check which drive is running out of space and view the Storage categories. Copy the files to another medium first; the cloud copy may change after moving from the sync folder.
