Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Safari > Settings > Websites > Pop-up Windows; select Block if the site does not require a popup.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Blocking pop-ups
In Safari Websites > Pop-up Windows, select Block or allow only the specific website you need.
Steps to follow
- From the Safari menu, select Settings > Websites.
- Select Pop-up Windows on the left and select Block next to the unwanted website.
- If a legitimate feature of the website is required, grant permission only to that feature. Please reopen the page and check.
Opt-out of website notifications
If the ad is a notification, check the Notifications permission - pop-up blocking does not remove it.
Steps to follow
- In Safari, open Settings > Websites > Notifications; Chrome – Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications.
- Find an unfamiliar site and revoke its permission to send messages.
- Close the message without opening its link and check that you are no longer receiving new ones; it is not disabling all antivirus.
If the problem persists
If ads remain, check the site's notification permissions - they're not the same as pop-ups. If a required feature does not work without the popup, grant permission only to a specific trusted site.
